Black or Brown slouch hat works for all impressions. This keeps the sun off better than a Kepi and is more common in the western theatres

Period shirt - 4 button placket. stick with solid or two-color checks *

smoothside canteen with butternut wool cover works for all impressions (U.S. and C.S)

tarred haversack (captured yankee haversack) works for most impressions *

braces (suspenders). Buy canvas or leather , stay away from elastic *

A vest is a good choice for hot weather. Sky blue vest will work for either C.S. or U.S.

Shield or fireman's shirt in wool or Cotton. You can wear this w/o a jacket and cotton is much cooler in our hot climate
